    Membership Statement

To be part of CFHE, potential members must read and agree to our Purpose Statement, our Statement of Faith, and our Activity Statement.

    Volunteer Statement

    Purpose Statement

Valley Home Scholars (VHS), doing business as Christian Family Home Educators (CFHE), exists to encourage and support Christian home education in the Spokane area and to provide, when possible, resources to meet various homeschooling needs. We have been in existence since May of 1987.

We are a Christian homeschool community that promotes Christian family values. We are non-denominational and have members representing a wide variety of area churches. CFHE does not represent or support any church, nor do we desire to take the place of the local church.

We extend a welcome to all homeschooling families, regardless of religious beliefs (you do not need to be a member or to sign our doctrinal statement to participate in our acvities), but we do require that all participants cooperate with us to provide a Christian environment for our children at all CFHE activities. In practical terms, this means that we expect all participants to treat each other with dignity, courtesy, and respect regardless of differences in religion, race, curriculum, homeschool style, etc., and to communicate based on the principles of Ephesians 4:29.

Members are expected to agree with and sign our statement of faith.

Christian Family Home Educators strongly affirms parents' God-given responsibility to shape their own children's education in their own way; therefore, CFHE does not promote or endorse any particular curriculum.

In addition, Chrisitan Family Home Educators, as a family-oriented organization, may endorse and promote events that we believe are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-homeschooling. CFHE leadership reserves the right to pick and choose which events we will endorse or promote based on what we believe will best serve the community we seek to serve.

Christian Family Home Educators is a Christian, non-denominational, nonprofit homeschooling community dedicated to helping parents educate their children at home. We encourage and support parents who homeschool in Spokane Valley and surrounding areas by coordinating and facilitating academic, informational, or social activities that are beneficial to Christian  homeschooling families.

    Faith Statement

We affirm the Nicene Creed of 381 A.D.

    We Believe that:
    • Because God’s Word is true (2 Sam 7:28; Psalm 119:160; John 5:32; Colossians 1:5) and God cannot lie (Titus 1:2), God’s written word, the Bible, is without error in content or message. Any discrepancies or inconsistencies are ultimately due to a lack of understanding, not evidence of a mistake or contradiction in God’s message.
    • God has always existed, though we have not. Consequently, God created everything (Genesis 1-3) but was not Himself created. At the center of the universe as we know it is the perfect relationship between God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God the Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth, took on human flesh, and lived a sinless life to atone for the sin of the world. God the Holy Spirit has come to be our comforter (John 14:15-17), to convict of sin and righteousness and judgement (John 16:8-11), and to give us the ability to live in supernatural and counter-cultural ways. We affirm the doctrine of the Trinity, recognizing that Jesus is God.
    • Sin is a Greek archery term that basically means to miss the mark or to fall short. Romans 6:23 says that everyone has sinned or failed to meet God’s perfect standard. As a result of that failure, we are separated from God and fellowship with God has been broken. The ultimate consequence of our failure to meet God’s perfect standard is eternal separation from God also known as death (Romans 6:23).
    • The central purpose of the incarnation of Jesus Christ was to restore the possibility of relationship with God, giving us the opportunity and privilege to be part of the most just, perfect, righteous, loving relationship ever imagined. The death of Jesus Christ in our place is God's only provision for man's sin: "He (Jesus Christ) was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification" (Romans 4:25).
    • Salvation is the opportunity to accept the invitation to be adopted into God’s family (Ephesians 2:11-19). It is not enough just to be intellectually aware of this reality. Each person much individually make a decisions about whether to embrace the opportunity of adoption or not: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).
    • Nothing about our relationship with God through Jesus can be accomplished apart from embracing the invitation to adoption. We cannot, in our own strength, do anything to qualify for or maintain our salvation (Ephesians 2:8, 9).

    Activity Statement

Christian Family Home Educators only offers activities that align with our values and Statement of Faith.

In addition, CFHE does not take responsibility for the safety of your children during any CFHE activity or during transportation to or from any CFHE activity. We are not a school; we are a group of individual parents who voluntarily get together to provide educational opportunities for our children and as such, each family is responsible for the safety of their own children at all times.
By filling in your name(s) & submitting this document electronically to CFHE, you are indicating that you have read and agree with the aforementioned Membership Form.

All information is confidential unless otherwise noted and will only be used to help us provide better service.  We do not sell or distribute our mailing/phone lists for any purpose.  We do ask our members not to use CFHE lists for business purposes.
