Local Testing Options

Annual testing is a requirement of Washington State Homeschool Law, but
figuring out how to meet requirements can be confusing and overwhelming,
especially for new homeschool families.

That's what this page is for - we want to make it easy to find
testing options that work well for your family.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION - check back regularly for updates.

For over 30 years, Family Learning Organization has been offering year round educational assessment testing and scoring services for homeschooling families, groups, and private schools. The tests they offer may be proctored at home by the parent. Scores are mailed directly to you or emailed upon request. Or create an online account so you may view your past orders and download scores at any time.

FLO's website offers a variety of options for learning more about testing, as well as a way to compare different tests, frequently asked questions, and a step-by-step description of how the process works.

FLO offers five nationally normed standardized achievement tests.
  • Stanford 10™ Online
  • TerraNova® 2nd Edition (CAT/6)
  • TerraNova® 1st Edition (CTBS)
  • California Achievement Test (CAT/5®)
  • CAT/5® Survey

All the tests offered by FLO are acceptable in Washington state and in most other states (check your state's law).

Hewitt Learning offers the P.A.S.S. Test
What is the P.A.S.S Test?

The P.A.S.S. (Personalized Achievement Summary System) Test is a standardized test that has been administrated over 350,000 times. Its popularity among homeschooling families is due primarily to two characteristics.
  1. It is a non-timed test. This reduces or eliminates the test anxiety often arising around standardized testing.
  2. Because not all students are at the same level in any particular grade, it incorporates a pretest to determine the most appropriate level test to administer in each of the three subjects (Reading, Math, and Language). When tests are scored, the student’s responses to the specific level tests they took are then used to generate a report, which includes a comparison of the student to others in their same grade, as well as some specific recommendations.

For more information or to schedule testing, please visit Hewitt Learning.

If you are interested in having your testing services highlighted here,

We do reserve the right to choose which vendors to include on our website and
priority will be given to those organizations with which we have existing partnerships.
